Lighthouse & Sunshine âą Odyssey of Men
"We missed Cain so much yesterday, Elijah and I. We could not say it. Well, I could with all my wordsâwords that only embarrass Elijah, since he does not have all my words. But I could feel it in him. I love my brothers, Cain and Elijah. I wish Cain had chosen a different path. But, I guess, Cain would not have been Cain if he had not chosen the path that ultimately killed him." - Samuel
Dust rising in the distance Telling Elijah is coming Coming to the valley of wisdom Wisdom of Cain, Elijah and Samuel Where they learnt how wet a kiss of Molly could be Where the learnt how the eyes of Maria could kill Where they learnt how Emma read thoughts before thinking them Where they learnt how forgiveness felt after destroying motherâs couch Where they learnt how wisdom glowed in the fire of forefathers Dust rising in the distance Telling Elijah is coming Coming to the Valley of Wisdom The valley, that valley of wisdom The valley, that valley of wisdom The valley, that valley of wisdom
Inspiration for the song: Sunshine (Leendert): This song is the song that ends the journey. This song needed to feel like homecoming and reminiscing. I think we've captured both those feelings very well in the song. The homecoming parts are the faster, upbeat parts in the song. The reminiscing part is the slower piece in the middle, where the lyrics take us back to the younger days. With the song feeling of riding on a horse towards home and a clear telling of fond memories, I think the vocals and music fit well. This song is a worthy ending to an epic story written by Lighthouse. I couldn't be more proud and happy with this project. I love being in this universe together with the brothers. Lighthouse (Lars): This has been the most difficult song to write because it is about a middle-aged manâs reflections on lifeâ reflections that come to him, hidden in the dust. The kiss, the eyes that could kill, and the mind readingâI have experienced it all. all. It was quite fun to remember and write. The part about the mother and the pretense, with a spank on the chin after destroying the motherâs couch, is taken from Steinbeckâs East of Eden. But it is also a story about my own brother and mother. My mum and dad got a new leather chair, and sadly, the day after, my big brother got a toy bow and arrow. As a target, he used the new chair because the leather held the arrows so well... Instruments: Acoustic guitar, Vocals, Double bass, Drums, Electric guitar, Piano Theme: Homecoming ...
The songs might end here, but the journey continues. Take the music with you or hold a piece of the story in your hands.
