Behind the music

Inspiration for the song: Lighthouse (Lars): This song was funny to write because it’s a mix of truth and fiction. Some of the lyrics, of course, I’ve experienced, but others – like playing poker or gambling – are pure imagination. I’ve never fought a fight (I’m too small and not aggressive at all...). When I left home and my country, I felt like Pinocchio without any strings – free to do whatever I wanted. And I did most of it. Sunshine (Leendert): The music to this song has come to life more than we thought it would. Lighthouse had the idea, that he wanted this song to be played with E and B chords, nothing more. The song needed to feel "drunk" and have a saloon kind of feel to it. In the end it all came together for us in the studio, working together with Fred Hank and Sebastian (Members of a band called What's in the Bag, check them out). The song is a hazy kind of song, with a piano heavily leaning into the saloon sound and a guitar that has a more "relaxed" kind of strum, it really feels like we're in a saloon drinking. The double bass compliments this really well by playing simple bass notes during the whole song.
